Johan Steenkamp acted as Assistant Director, Capital Projects for the Engineering Department of the City of Burnaby from April to May 2015. In January 2015, Engineering Director Leon Gous and his team had embarked on a project to restructure the department to optimize their efficiency in delivering capital projects. Johan Steenkamp of CoLAB Project Success Inc. facilitated the change management of the organizational change.
Johan Steenkamp was the project manager on this Basic Engineering Design project worth an estimated CAD$160-million (2012) in capital expenditure, on behalf of his client, engineering consulting firm Tetra Tech WEI Inc.

The City of Burnaby’s Engineering Department decided that a Project Management framework must be developed for the delivery of Engineering capital projects. In 2015, CoLAB Project Success Inc. was contracted to develop a best practical Project Management framework, with Johan Steenkamp filling the role of Project Manager on site in the office of the Engineering Director.
Seabridge Gold Inc.’s KSM (Kerr-Sulphurets-Mitchell) deposit is one of two deposits owned by the company, and they rank among the largest undeveloped gold deposits in Canada. In Nov. 2011 Seabridge Gold commissioned Tetra Tech WEI Inc. to prepare an updated NI 43-101-compliant PFS Report on KSM, with Johan Steenkamp as project manager. The capital cost of the project was estimated at CAN$5.31-billion.

In 2012, Johan Steenkamp was Program Manager of the CSG (Consulting Studies Group) Navigator Project for Tetra Tech WEI, the Canadian Mining Engineering subsidiary of American consulting group Tetra Tech Inc.
Johan Steenkamp was Program Manager of the Investment Committee Navigator Project for Anglo American South Africa, the South African holding company for Anglo American plc’s South African operations. (Internal to the company the project was referred to as internally referred to the AAPW – Anglo American Projects Way Navigator.)
Johan Steenkamp was Program Manager of the PRIZM Project for Kumba Iron Ore (Kumba), the South African iron ore subsidiary of Anglo American plc. The PRIZM Project won Kumba’s in-house Laurel Award for outstanding achievement in June 2010.
Johan Steenkamp was Program Manager of the FNB Home Loans project, which entailed transitioning the company’s paper-based, largely manual mortgage application system to an automated, electronic system.
This project was the implementation project of a terminal-based ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) service solution for Logical Options Staffing (Pty) Ltd., a provider of nation-wide staffing solutions. Subsequently, the Kelly Group acquired Logical Options, in a deal worth R616-million ($55.8-million).
